We're thrilled about the Coleman Power Chill 12 Volt Thermoelectric Cooler, to put it mildly. Actually, we can't even control ourselves. We're restless, trembling, and ready to go

Coleman coolers have been discussed previously (see here, here, or here). Anyone would be proud to own one of these fantastic coolers. In fact, to reiterate what we already said, there is a good chance that you have previously owned a Coleman cooler.

If you haven't, a friend of yours probably has. This brand is both very old and very well-known. Because they stick to what works and toss out what doesn't, they have been able to remain relevant for so long in a market that is constantly changing.

What, then, makes this electric cooler so gorgeous? Well, we're curious to learn. Do you want to join us?

Review of the 40-quart Coleman PowerChill Thermoelectric Cooler

How do we begin? The amount of things to say about this cooler is enormous. First of all, it's not quite a cooler nor is it quite a refrigerator.

Let's face it, you don't always have time to prepare your cooler for the trip by filling it with ice. Additionally, you don't always travel to places where it is simple to replenish the ice. Additionally, if you're going to be gone for a considerable amount of time, it might not be likely to last as long as your trip

Wouldn't it be great if you could simply connect your cooler to the power source in your car or boat and use the reliable power of electricity to keep things warm? Coleman and I both believe it would. They therefore created this wonderful little hybrid device that combines a cooler and a refrigerator.

Starting with the door This door was so captivating to us. It has two sides that open. It has been designed to open from both the right and the left. To get a feel for it, I allegedly spent a full five minutes there simply opening and closing the door from both sides. It is outstanding in every way. What's even better is that the good stuff doesn't stop there.

Additionally, it has two different orientations. You can use it as either a conventional ice chest or an upright cooler due to the unique design of the door and the cooler itself. Hey, do whatever feels right to you. I swear I don't recall seeing anything this adaptable on the coolers market last time.

It weighs only 18 pounds, which is very light for an electric cooler. It's quite simple to transport something that light in your car for short distances.

Freezing and Cooling

This refrigerator is intended to maintain items at temperatures that are either 40 degrees Fahrenheit above or 40 degrees Fahrenheit below the surrounding air. Due to this, we stated that it is not quite a refrigerator. You can use it to keep your food warm and your beverages cold.

It will therefore maintain its contents at either 30 degrees Fahrenheit on the lower side or 110 degrees Fahrenheit on the higher side if you visit a location with an ambient temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

One thing to keep in mind with this thermoelectric cooler is that it takes approximately 3 hours to reach the maximum temperature difference. Therefore, before using the contents, you should either have them pre-chilled or pre-warmed. However, once it reaches its maximum, it will continue to operate for as long as the device is plugged in.

Power

This cooler is a great option for those who want something that works with the outlet in their car or boat (also known as a cigarette lighter receptacle) because the power source only needs to be 12 volts. It requires 60 watts or 5 amperes, which you can easily get from your car, and it has an 8-foot power cord. That is essentially more than enough length to have the cooler plugged in and placed wherever you want it.

This thermoelectric cooler is great for long boat, truck, family, or RV trips (see our reviews of additional electric coolers here). When the ice runs out, just plug the cooler back in to use the power of your car battery to enjoy a warm or hot meal and a drink. This eliminates the worry that the ice won't last long enough.

Capacity

In addition, it has a 40-quart capacity that can accommodate 44 cans. That is more than sufficient for a typical lengthy car trip. There is no chance that you will soon run out of juice. You'll discover a convenient storage tray inside the cooler that makes it easier to keep the items inside it neatly organized.

CF Series Dometic Coolers

dometic cf

The variety of sizes available with the Dometic CF series over the Coleman PowerChill is one of its biggest advantages. It's quite convenient that a Dometic CF cooler can be found to suit almost any volume requirement.

Additionally, it has a wide range of input options, including the ability to draw power from virtually any power source, including the mains, another battery, and your car's battery.

The Coleman's one significant drawback is that this cooler cannot heat your food. Additionally, you do not receive a door that opens from both the left and the right as well as a cooler that can be used upright. We believe that with a cooler as magical as the Coleman, it needs to be mentioned.

12 volt Engel Fridge/Freezer

Engel 12v Fridge/Freezer

Okay, so the main drawback of Engel's 12V competitor fridge/freezer is that it cannot warm food like the PowerChill. On the other hand, it does have AC/DC capabilities, allowing it to draw power from any power source. In contrast to the Coleman, it also has automatic voltage selection and variable temperature control. But since it's an ice chest, neither the left nor the right doors open.

Buy it from Amazon

The Coleman Electric Cooler's retail locations

Although there are many online retailers where you can purchase the Coleman PowerChill, Amazon is by far the best option. Before making a decision, you can read actual customer reviews on Amazon to ensure it is one that is well-informed. Additionally, you have 30 days to return a product if you don't like it.

You receive a limited 1-year warranty for the Coleman, and Amazon's customer service is excellent for any warranty-related problems. If you are a member of Prime, you can also get free delivery on some items. All things considered, there are numerous advantages.
